Alice Isn't Dead

Alice Isn't Dead

The creators of Welcome to Nightvale have had quite go at the podcast game.  They got in early, built a huge following, and have now expanded into their own podcast site. They're using it as a launchpad for their first new podcast, Alice Isn't Dead.  Their delightful, Lynchian mixture of mundane American life with sinister surrealism translates well into the new, slightly darker world of Alice.  The story follows a female truck driver who encounters spooky, otherworldly madness as she drives through what feels like one long nightmarish night, looking for her long missing wife.  As with Nightvale, the writers showcase their knack for dream logic and absurd, ominous nonsense as they tell their disjointed narrative through the voice of our unnamed point-of-view character.  It's all set to a pitch-perfect seedy and driving synth score, which is, as always, a nice added bonus.  It's only been on for one episode, but it's as strong a pilot as you might ever hear.
